BRANDON DAVIS VICTORY AT ROAD ATLANTA GIVES ACS EXPRESS SECOND WIN OF YEAR

BRASELTON, GA. – Brandon Davis and ACS Express Racing finished the 2008 season in flawless fashion, winning the SCCA SPEED GT Finale Presented by Foametix as part of the annual Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

Starting from the second position, Davis took the lead at the start and never looked back in winning for the second time this year. The Huntington Beach, CA, native also won the Long Beach Grand Prix. At Road Atlanta, he took advantage of a mistake by pole-sitter Tommy Milner, who spun his tires from the standing start. Davis made no such miscue, or any others and raced the checkered flag as if the result were pre-determined.

“I had a front row seat to Tommy"s burnout,” Davis said, who drove the #10 jet black Ford Mustang Cobra. “From there I just wanted to keep the car up there and run hard every lap. Obviously in qualifying, we weren’t sure if we could run that pace every lap of the race, so we made some significant changes to the handling and the car was just hooked up.”

His father teammate and team owner Mike Davis, started 19th and finished 18th in his vibrant neon yellow and purple #11 Ford Mustang Cobra. Both cars were sponsored by Allied Computer Solutions and Sun Microsystems.

Brandon’s victory was a top-of-the-podium touch to an extremely successful season. He had the two wins and finished second three times. He finished third in the drivers championship with 831 points and established himself as a future title contender in his first year in the series. Had it not been for a few unfortunate DNF’s not of his own making – mechanical issues or being caught up in an accident – he would have been in the hunt until the end this year.

“The car is very strong, but we had a reliability issue, “Brandon said. “There was a point there where we contemplated going to another car. But, fortunately, Joe Huffaker did a great job with the motors and making them reliable.”

Davis ended the season by finishing first and second in the final two races.
